World Masters Athletics (WMA) is delighted to announce that the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships will return to Alachua County, Florida, USA in March 2027. Following the resounding success of the 2025 edition, masters athletes from across the globe will once again gather in this vibrant community for another world-class celebration of competition, camaraderie, and lifelong athletic excellence.

The 2025 Championships in Alachua County set a new benchmark for athlete experience and organizational quality. From the state-of-the-art facilities and warm hospitality to the unforgettable atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect, the event demonstrated the true spirit of the masters movement.

“With the exceptional foundation built in 2025, and with more time to plan, we are confident that the 2027 Championships will be even better,” said Margit Jungmann, President of World Masters Athletics. “Alachua County has proven to be an outstanding host, deeply committed to our mission of promoting fitness, health, and international friendship through athletics.”

President Jungmann added,

“Masters Athletics brings people from every corner of the world together through the shared joy of competition and friendship. Our championships are a celebration of what unites us — passion, respect, and the pursuit of excellence at every age. The 2027 Championships in Alachua County will once again show how sport can inspire, connect, and remind us that we are one global community.”

“We are so happy to welcome the world back to Alachua County, “ said Alachua County Manager Michele Lieberman. “The 2025 WMA Indoor Championship was such an amazing experience for visitors and our community alike.  We look forward to making it even more spectacular in 2027!”

Alachua County and WMA will build on the previous success with a full indoor program, enhanced by long throws, road, and cross-country events, plus a wide range of activities and experiences for everyone attending. Athletes will have the chance to shine across an exciting variety of disciplines, surrounded by the energy and enthusiasm that defined the 2025 experience. Visitors can look forward to another unforgettable celebration of sport and community in Alachua County — one of America’s most vibrant and welcoming destinations.
