Ideal facilities, an experienced host team and the city of Ulm as a committed host: German youth championships of athletics in the Ulm Danube Stadium-that fits! After the stadium was not available for major athletics in the past year due to the installation of a lawn heating, the German Athletics Association (DLV) is particularly pleased to be guests again in the Danube Stadium in 2025. And that with a premiere!
After two editions of the German U18/U20 championships 2019 and 2022, the German Championships of the U16 and U23 age class take place for the first time in Ulm. It is an exciting new format in which Germany’s aspiring talents present themselves in the same championships, in which absolute top athletes are also: inside.
For example, with discus thrower Mika Sosna (TSG Bergedorf) or long jumper Laura Raquel Müller (Unterländer LG), German Olympic participants are expected. Alexander Stepanov (VfL Sindelfingen) recently caused a sensation with the World Cup standard over 800 meters. And Jolanda Kallabis (FT 1844 Freiburg; Middle Structure) and Rosina Schneider (TV Sulz; hurdle sprint) have already won German championship titles in the women’s class.
Spring stamp to the U23 European Championship
The U23 athletes: Inside, in the Ulm Danube Stadium, the starting places for the U23 European Championships are fighting, which take place from July 17th to 20th in Bergen in Norway. “For us, the U23 DM in Ulm is the central nomination competition,” explains DLV boss national coaches youngsters U20/U23 Björn wisdom. “In almost all individual disciplines, it offers the last chance to meet the standard for the U23 European Championships. The top two of the German U23 championships with a fulfilled standard are primarily nominated for mountains. We can therefore look forward to high-class and exciting competitions!”
In order to offer the athlete: inside the optimal conditions, the city of Ulm, as the owner of the Danube Stadium, has once again invested in the cleaning and improvement of the well -known fast track.
“The German championships in athletics are an important event in which the young talents of Germany demonstrate their skills. It is impressive to see how motivation and passion drive the next generation of athletes – an inspiration for the entire sports community. We are proud of it with the Danube stadium to be able to provide the right atmosphere for this competition,” says Ulm’s Mayor.
