IAU/WMA 50k World Championship
December 7, 2025

Dear Friends,
I would like to welcome you all to the IAU 50km World Championships in New Delhi,
India.
India has become one of regular stops on the ultrarunning championships calendar.
The development of ultrarunning, the growth of the discipline and overall popularity
of the sport has been incredible in the country.
This has been in a huge part due to the continued support of the Athletics Federation
of India (AFI). I would like to thank Bahadur Singh Sagoo, the current President of AFI,
and Adille Sumariwalla, the former President of AFI and VP of World Athletics. Their
support has tremendously helped with the growth of the sport in the region.
I would also like to thank Nagaraj Adiga and his team at NEB Sports for hosting
multiple championships and giving athletes a solid platform to run on the continental
and international platforms. With this current application they have solidified a threeedition home for the 50km World Championships.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite athletes and federation to this marquee
event on the IAU calendar. You will get to experience not only a world class event but
also witness Indian hospitality. The memories you take back will last a lifetime.
Welcome to India’s Capital!
