The SOLECUP attracts the best German throwers every year to Schönebeck. This year the top -class meeting was again able to come up with the best throwing conditions. The athletes fully exploited them on Saturday. The competitions in the discus throw were particularly high -class and exciting with several leadership changes and four German athletes: inside that fought for the podium.
First, the women climbed into the Ring of Schönebeck. The first fragrance brand set Marike Steinacker (TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen) in round one, which had started at the Diamond League meeting in Paris (France) the day before. She transported her disc to 63.66 meters. This should remain your daily extension, but ultimately not enough for a place on the podium. Because three opponents still passed.
The cheering at Claudine Vita (SC Neubrandenburg) was particularly great. The Olympic sixth, which had been slowed down by an infection in the preparation, fulfilled the World Cup standard for Tokyo (Japan; 13th to 21 September) for the first time this season at 64.78 meters. Until the last round it was on the course of the victory, then the German annual best Shanice Craft (SV Halle) could counter 65.00 meters with a spot landing. The third was the German champion Kristin Pudenz (OSC Potsdam; 64.67 m).
Mika Sosna makes it clear early
In the men’s discus throw, on the other hand, Mika Sosna (TSG Bergedorf) could no longer be displaced from the top position after the second attempt. His disc, the fourth best result of his career, flew to 67.56 meters. However, it remained exciting behind it. Through his last litter, which was measured at 66.32 meters, Henrik Janssen (SC Magdeburg) was still able to refer to Steven Richter (LV 90 Erzgebirge) to third place. The German annual best Clemens Prüfer (OSC Potsdam) had to be content this time with 65.43 meters and fourth place.
Katharina Maisch (LV 90 Erzgebirge) was even allowed to cheer a new best above the World Cup standard. The bullet bump secured victory at 19.25 meters and thus increased her house record by nine centimeters in May in Chemnitz. The second was the Chinese Yue Ma (18.80 m) just ahead of Alina Kenzel (VfB Stuttgart; 18.66 m). For the men, only the Chinese Jialiang Xing (20.40 m) exceeded the 20-meter mark, the best German was in four Simon Bayer (Lac Essingen; 19.31 m).
In the hammer throw of women, four athletes cracked the 70-meter brand, the German annual best Aileen Kuhn landed fourth with exactly 70.00 meters. This time the German champion Samantha Borutta (both Eintracht Frankfurt) came with 71.60 meters. It was the second best width of her career and her best throw for around three years. The two Chinese Jiale Zhang (73.81 m) and Jie Zhao (73.06 m) made the victory among themselves. In the absence of 80-meter thrower Merlin Hummel (LG Stadtwerke Munich), the Chilene Humberto Mansilla (75.24 m) won in the absence of 80-meter thrower.
