Best weather, the best mood and a number of personal best performance and meeting regulations: On Saturday at the Anhalt Meeting Dessau, Gina Lückenkemper, Julian Weber and International medalist at EM, World Cup and Olympic Games had a reason.

Jane Sichting

In keeping with the start of the calendar, the weather over Dessau on Saturday showed its best side – in bright sunshine and temperatures around 27 degrees, the sprinters felt comfortable. This was also reflected in the times that were brought to the train.

True to the motto: “All good things are three”, Gina Lückenkemper (SCC Berlin) stood in the starting block in Dessau again in the past two years after her starts over 100 meters and hunted the meeting record. When she was able to prevail over the last meters in an exciting final and illuminated a time of 10.95 seconds, which was later corrected to 10.93 seconds, the project almost seemed to have been succeeded – if it hadn’t been to the wind. 2.5 meters/second tail wind was a little too much than that time can be officially recognized for leaderboard.

Meeting cord blamed from the wind

Nevertheless, the Olympic third with the 4×100 meter relay in Paris was happy. “I am very grateful that it was made possible to run in the other direction. I prefer to run a quick race with too much tailwind and have overs speed training. It is annoying that the wind was not valid, but that was really good today and I can definitely build on that after Dessau, the meeting has a family atmosphere and the organizer gives us anthletes and the organizer. Athletes to offer the best possible conditions, ”she said.

Second place went to Daryll Neita (Great Britain; 11.00 sec) ahead of Sina Mayer (LAZ Zweibrücken; 11.03 sec) and Rebekka Haase (sprint team Wetzlar; 11.19 sec).

Meeting cord with jumps in joy

Jerome Blake, who won gold with the Canadian sprint season at the Olympic Games in Paris (France) with the Canadian sprint season. Already in the run -up he set the meeting in 10.05 seconds, in the final he really got rolling and conjured up 9.97 seconds on the track. In this way he not only remained in the Paul-over-stadium as the first sprinter under ten seconds, but also made a personal best and then bumped over the lawn.

The second -placed Tsebo Matsos (South Africa; 10.03 sec) also sprinted to the finish with the best time, and Favour Ashe (Nigeria; 10.08 sec) finished third. The best DLV sprinter was Kevin Kranz (sprint team Wetzlar; 10.16 sec) in fourth in front of club colleague Heiko Gussmann (10.17 sec) and Julian Wagner (TV Wattenscheid 01; 10.18 sec), who was able to prevail in the B-final with season best.

After the 100 meters over twice the distance at the start, the German champion Jessica-Bianca Wessolly (VfL Sindelfingen) and Sina Mayer (LAZ Zweibrücken and Talea Prepens (TV Cloppenburg) were. 2023 Success Eduan (Great Britain; 23.08 sec).

Schneider and Buchholz with World Cup confirmation standard

Another highlight of the meeting was at the end, in a discipline in which the DLV athletes recently gave a lot of fun. Over 3,000 meters of obstacle tumbled one new (season) best time after the other. Above all, the reason for joy was one: Velten Schneider (VfL Sindelfingen). Because this was not only the fastest race of his career and thus to victory in 8: 18.12 minutes, but also remained well below the DLV confirmation standard (8: 22.00 min) for the World Championships in Tokyo (Japan;

In its suction, Niklas Buchholz (LSC Höchstadt/Aisch) could also be drawn to a new best time in second place, in 8: 18.17 minutes he was also able to undercut the World Cup confirmation standard. Third place went to the Italian Osama Zoghlami (8: 26.03 min).

Franziska Schuster again under 13 seconds

The German hurdle sprint is just fun this summer. After the best-time festival in Regensburg a week earlier, strong times in Dessau again tumbled. The winner Franziska Schuster (TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen; 12.97 sec) remained again under 13 seconds.

“I am glad that I was able to go one day again in the final and I am happy that it is currently going how it works,” she said afterwards. In view of the performance density in the German top, she is already looking forward to the German Championships in Dresden (July 31 to August 3): “Dresden will be a festival and an exciting final.”

With the hiring of her best time, Lia Flotow (1. LAV Rostock; 13.03 sec) sprinted in second place in front of Nika Glojnaric from Slovenia (13.04 sec). For the Hallen-EM sixth and German indoor champion over 60 meters hurdles Marlene Meier (TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen; 13.07 sec) there was a new seasonal order as fourth. Amira Never (LAC Erdgas Chemnitz) was also able to confirm its currently strong form, and she won the B final in 13.04 seconds.

Julian Weber despite sleep deprivation in strong form

It was a tight program that the European champion from 2022 Julian Weber (USC Mainz) imposed. After promoting his spear to 87.88 meters at the Diamond League Meeting in Paris the evening before, he was already on the start in Dessau on Saturday afternoon. Here two attempts were enough to repeat his previous year’s victory – with 87.28 meters, he underpinned his stable high level, which he can reliably call up under sleep deprivation and travel stress. Douw Smit came from South Africa (82.53 m) with season best in second place. Fourth became Nick Thumm (VfB Stuttgart; 79.13 m).

The aerial artists in the pole vault did not get so well flying on Saturday. The six-meter jumper and Polish state recordler Piotr Lisek were the highest with 5.65 meters. Four athletes overwhelmed 5.50 meters: Filip Kempski (Poland), Austin Miller from the USA and the Chinese duo Bokai Huang and Tao Zhong. The best German became the European Championship third Oleg Zernikel (ASV Landau; 5.35 m), who, however, had problems with the start and kept going through his attempts instead of lifting.

Olympic champion with a meeting of the meeting over eight meters

Only two attempts needed Miliadis Tentoglou to grab the meeting cord. With 8.23 meters, the two-time Olympic champion from Greece was the only eight-meter jumper in front of the EM-Eachen Luka Herden (LG Brillux Münster; 7.91 m) and Simon Plitzko (TSG Bergedorf), who set a new personal best in the pit with 7.87 meters. The 8.19 meters in the sixth attempt would also have been enough for Tentoglou for a new meetings and victory.

The fastest legs over 1,500 meters had the Norwegian Ingeborg Ostgard (4: 08.84 min) on Saturday, followed by Kinga Krolik (Poland; 4: 09.70 min) and Vera Coutellier (Cologne Athletics; 4: 09.84 min). Verena Meisl (TV Wattenscheid 01; 4: 12.16 min) and young runner Vanessa Mikitenko (SSC Hanau-Rodenbach; 4: 13.17 min) also ran to fifth and six.

Meeting record on the middle route

A similar picture came about over the 1,500 meters of the men, where numerous best performances fell and, to the delight of the organizers, even a new meeting cord could be achieved. Nuno Pereira (Portugal) secured this with 3: 32.16 minutes ahead of Ryan Mphahlele (South Africa; 3: 32.27 min) and Joao Bussotti (Italy; 3: 33.08 min).

In the heat battle of Dessau this time, Robert Farken (SG Motor Gohlis-Nord Leipzig), the new German record holder over 1,500 meters (3: 30.80 min) and the mile (3: 48.25 min) was not quite as fast as last. He crossed the finish line in 3: 34.32 minutes as fourth.

There were also new meetings in the men’s over 800 meters of women and 400 meters of men. While the Hungarian Patrik Elyingi (45.22 sec) was able to prevail over the stadium round – Manuel Sanders (TV Wattenscheid 01) finished fourth in 45.88 seconds – it was over twice the distance soukaina Hajji from Morocco, who triumphed in 2: 00.15 minutes. Lucia Sturm (TSV Moselfeuer Lehmen) presented themselves strongly in fourth place, which ran new personal best in 2: 01.77 minutes.
