Following the opening ceremony and celebrations, the Nicolosi 2025 European Masters Off Road Running Championship is officially underway.
More than 400 Masters athletes—273 men and 135 women—brought energy and determination to the trails and mountain roads stretching between Mount Concilio and Mount Gemellaro. All of it took place under the majestic gaze of Mount Etna, adding drama to two spectacular and hard-fought races.
Eleven nations have already claimed spots on the medal table, with Italy taking a commanding lead, securing 14 gold medals on the first day.
But this was just the beginning. Tomorrow promises an even greater challenge: the Vertical Run, featuring over 1,000 meters of elevation gain, finishing near the rim of Mount Etna’s main crater.
