2025 ANUGERAH TOKOH SUKAN (NATIONAL SPORTS LEADERSHIP AWARD)
World Masters Athletics extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. S. Sivapragasam, President of the Malaysian Masters Athletics Association (MMAA), on receiving the prestigious Tokoh Sukan (National Sports Leadership Award 2025). The award, which includes a cash prize of RM15,000.00, was presented by the Hon. Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, during the official launch of Hari Sukan Negara on 11 October 2025 at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah, Ipoh, Perak.
Siva has served Malaysian and Asian athletics with outstanding dedication for more than 65 years — as an athlete, coach, administrator, lecturer, and advisor. He currently serves as General Secretary of Asia Masters Athletics (AMA) and is a valued member of the World Masters Athletics (WMA) Council as Asian Masters Athletics Regional Representative.
As a coach, he developed many of Malaysia’s leading middle- and long-distance runners during the 1980s and 1990s, several of whom went on to represent the nation at the SEA Games, Asian Track and Field Championships, and the Asian Games.
Beyond coaching, Siva has been instrumental in promoting and popularizing the Masters athletics movement both in Malaysia and across Asia. Widely respected within the athletics community, he continues to serve with remarkable energy and commitment at the age of 83 — an inspiring example to younger generations of what it means to dedicate one’s life to sport and service.
This recognition is a fitting tribute to Siva’s lifelong passion, integrity, and contribution to the development of athletics. WMA proudly joins in celebrating his achievement and expressing our deepest respect and gratitude for his extraordinary service to the Masters Athletics movement.
