In Paula’s own words:
Peer Pressure
So here’s the thing. After a few years of “do you do multi events?”, “you should do multis”, “have you ever considered doing a pentathlon/heptathlon”… I’m doing a pentathlon. I will be dragging my tired, unfit, lazy backside through 5 events on Sunday 24th August.

Do one thing every day that scares you – the 800m?
Who’s with me? Since starting athletics 12 years ago, I’ve loved throwing myself at track and field. It’s too much fun not to. It looks after my mental health, allows me to have plenty of activity and has afforded me new local and international friends. So where’s the downside? I can hurdle a bit, jump a bit and chuck stuff. I’ll tell you, shall I? For me, it’s that 800m. Those of you who know my and my procrastination, know that I struggle with anything over 150m. I’m papping myself and that’s ok. Getting out of my comfort zone will be good for me (my current night-time affirmation).

Come and Join me at Pingles
That’s why I’m doing the pent. I’m showing up and proving to myself I can do it. Also, Wendy Kane reminded me that I’d said I was going to do a pentathlon when I was President of MMAC … great memory that one! I’ll be delighted if I get a decent score and even more delighted to just complete it.
So I say again: who’s with me? Pingles, Sunday 24th August British Masters Pent. Enter and jog/walk around the track twice (oh my days) with me at the end. See you there.
